Re: Q: Sports novelty itemsFrom: Robert Kerr CommentsDo you distribute the larger items at the time of the shoot or are all of these items shipped with the finished packages? Would you say you sell novelty items to at least 20% of portrait buyers? cdrs for pro photographersFrom: Media Supply, Inc. CommentsHi , I am with a company called Media Supply. We work with many members of photographic organizations including PROFESSIOANL PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCATION, SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHERS INTL, AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MEDIA PHOTOGRAPHERS and THE PHOTO MARKETING ASSOCIATION. Referrals are available upon request. We assist them with the blank cdrs/dvdrs they use to store their images on. The cd-r/dvd-r of choice with the majority of these customers has become the Mitsui silver or gold cd-r or dvd-r. A pdf of a Wall Street Journal article entitled "BEWARE THE FADING DYE" discussing cd and dvd longevity standards is available upon request. Also, here is a link to an article published in BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY magazine about the best CD-R blank media for photographers. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/columns/sm-05-09-04.shtml The Mitsui quality cd-rs were developed in response to user concerns about the viability of conventional cd-r media. Consumer grade discs frequently select dyes and reflective materials to achieve the lowest possible unit cost rather than the highest possible performance. These compromises are reasonable accommodations in the consumer market but they do not take into account the requirements of long-term archive applications. The Mitsui cd-r is optimized for long life an provides demonstrably superior longevity and resistance to environmental degradation than conventional cd-r media. When stored at room temperature, a Mitsui silver cd-r will last a minimum of 100 years. Mitsui gold, 300 years, estimated conservatively. I wanted to let you know that we offer special prices to professional photographers. Prices on the Mitsui cdrs/dvdrs, as well as prices on two other high quality cdrs/dvdrs on the market today, Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are listed below as well as some other popular items. FREE samples of these cdrs are available. If you have any interest please feel free to reach me at 800-681-9214 or joe@mediasupply.com. For discounted prices, you would need to contact me directly.
